Position Summary:Empire Landscape is a growing company, and the Accounting Assistant will not only learn and understand all aspects of the business, but will be involved in the day to day accounting, payroll, and MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) compliance procedures. They will be responsible for data entry, recording a wide range of financial transactions, and confirming the accuracy of accounting database information depending on the needs of the CFO.Duties/Responsibilities: Reviews accounts payable invoices, assigns vendor numbers and similar identifying data, and confirms correct accounting codes were used. Enters vendor information into accounting software system; verifies that invoice information is entered correctly. Issues payments to vendors as approved. Answers vendor questions by researching accounts. Manages all AP processes. Helps manage payroll and other reporting required for compliance to county, state, and/or federal entities. Prepares monthly inventory control reports. Performs other duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities: Basic understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to multitask and prioritize duties to meet deadlines.Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or Finance preferred. One year of related experience required. Experience with accounting software.Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
