Job Description:

Great opportunity to join this highly successful, fast growing, large Automotive group serving the Washington Metro Area as the Controller, reporting directly to the owners.--Multiple locations, primarily in the Suburban Maryland area, business has a great, family friendly work environment and understands the value of its people and encourages diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Must have direct experience in the automobile industry and at least 5+ years in a management position. Responsibilities:Oversee Daily Operations of Accounting OfficeManage cash flowReview all expenditures & purchase postings for proper G/L acctsReview all receipt postings for proper G/L acctsMonitor daily fixed operation transactionsReview Accounts Receivables and discuss/advise A/R clerkMonitors sales departments' daily transactions, including the followingPending/Booked/Finalized deal statusContracts in TransitMoney DueTrade payoffsDX transactions/payoffs/floor planningNew & Used inventory postings & payoffs.Review sales payroll postings and commission sheetsPrepare employee Accounts Receivables deductions for payrollReview and approve all payrolls before processingReview payroll General Ledger distribution after postingPost payroll taxes and cash entries to G/LAssist/Instruct issues and decisions on Tag & Title procedures and problemsMonthly ProceduresReconcile all bank accounts to G/LReconcile Factory Open Account to G/LReview all schedules and make corrections as requiredReconcile Used Vehicle Inventory to actual physical inventoryReconcile Bank floor plan to new & used inventory schedulesReview any outstanding schedule items/issues with Department ManagerReview A/P checks before releasing for paymentPost all standard entries and review GL balances for accuracyPrior to month end review all monthly expense & income entries for correct accounts and posting in correct monthCalculate monthly payroll accrualsCalculate monthly commissions, final sales commissions and accrueReview any irregular Balance Sheet or P/L account balances prior to closingCreate Monthly Financial Statements on a timely basis and be prepared to discuss all line itemsTransmit Financial Statement to manufacturersClose accounting month on DMSController Annual DutiesPrepare Year End and 13th Month Financial Statements.--Review all nonstandard entries, disclosures or postings that will have a significant effect on the P/L Statement or Balance Sheet with the Dealer/GM for approval and discuss any issues or concerns with CPA firm before finalizing.Review all W-2s with payroll before distribution to employeesComplete 1099's and update W-9 informationAssist Payroll in gathering all payroll & insurance data necessary to complete Affordable Care Act reports.--Work with vendor in preparing & review all data prior to processing.Prepare all reports, schedules, trial balances and documentation required by CPA firm for the completion of tax returns and Annual Review.--Review all information with CPA firm's accountants as necessary.Review and process estimated tax payment schedule with CPA.--Adjust as requiredSet up all standard reoccurring expenses to auto post.--Including entries for depreciation, insurance taxes and any other reoccurring expenses.--Monitor G/L balances of accounts to ensure accurate projections.Work with Audit Firm, 401K administrator and Payroll/HR in providing all information/documentation necessary to prepare 5500's and Annual 401K Audit.Complete annual Workers Comp audit as required by insurance carrier.Provide all census data, loss runs, financial data and business information necessary to obtain quotes for Business Insurance, Workers Comp and Health Insurance from vendors.As the company contact review Workers Comp, Business Insurance and Health Insurance claims and handle any coverage or policy issues that might arise during the year.Assist in negotiating coverage with vendors annually.Deal directly with the Bank's Commercial Representative for various reporting requirements, financial questions, compliance and lending issues, annual reviews and general business relationship management. Compensation:Base salary is $75-$78K with aggressive bonus package and great benefits - total compensation expected to be in the $180K range.
