Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:HIAS seeks an experienced Social
Media Specialist to collaborate closely with the communications,
public affairs and programs teams to publicize and promote HIAS and
our work in the U.S. and across the globe through social media
campaigns. The right candidate will have the passion and skills to
lead and strengthen HIAS social media efforts and increase the
impact of our work in the U.S. and abroad.ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:Oversees and manages HIAS robust social media presence
across multiple audience verticals and social platforms, and
assures that programming priorities and campaigns are well
represented; elevates and grows HIAS social media following and
engagement across platforms.Maintains awareness of breaking news,
national and regional refugee and asylum policy and trends, and
ensures that HIAS social media feeds are accurate, authoritative
sources of information.Writes, edits and maintains post content
related to HIAS news, achievements, field work and special
events.Develops and maintains comprehensive social media
calendar.Coordinates social media strategy with HIAS international
offices and the U.S. resettlement affiliate network; participates
in global and domestic communications Communities of
Practice.Monitors and reports on social media content, campaigns,
successes and innovations across the nonprofit sector to keep teams
apprised and aware of opportunities to evolve; employs testing for
messaging, audience and content insights.Oversees development of
graphics and other collateral for social media, working with
internal resources and outside vendors as necessary.Helps HIAS
leadership and key staff members develop their social media
presence.Maintains strong awareness of HIAS brand identity and
messaging platform; promotes HIAS brand internally and
externally.Assists with managing digital assets and HIAS photo
library.Participates in ongoing development of HIAS communications
strategy, as well as training of staff in communications best
practices.Performs other tasks as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS &
REQUIREMENTS:Undergraduate degree, preferably in relevant field.3-5
years of experience in marketing and communications, especially
managing social media for a large audience.Spanish fluency
preferred.Strong awareness of evolving trends, tools, policies and
best practices in social media and digital marketing.Excellent
writing, copy-editing and interpersonal communications
skills.Experience producing or overseeing development of multimedia
content, including photo slideshows, videos and graphics
preferred.Knowledge and/or experience with international marketing
and communication strategies preferred.Experience with website
content management preferred.Knowledge of refugee and/or asylum
issues preferred.Experience working or volunteering with a Jewish
organization preferred.Ability to collaborate and work
independently in a fast-moving environment.Excellent interpersonal,
organizational and project management skills; detail-oriented;
ability to set goals, maintain calendar, measure impact and ensure
program implementation is consistently on budget.Ability to
multi-task and problem-solve diverse issues.Ability to demonstrate
cultural sensitivity and communicate effectively across different
cultures.EXTERNAL REPRESENTATION:All employees are expected to
