POSITION SUMMARY: The Learn to Skate Instructor will lead the facility's youth (and some adult) ice skating offerings, including, but not limited to: Developmental Classes (ages 3-8), After-School/Home School programs, Clinics, Camps, Private/Semi-Private Trainings, Performance Sessions, and Birthday Parties. The Learn to Skate Instructor is responsible for coaching and developing skaters. This role involves designing and implementing training programs, providing instruction and feedback, and fostering a positive and competitive environment for athletes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO : Teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques to a wide range of athletes, individuals and groups Develop and implement training programs tailored to the skill levels and goals of athletes Conduct on-ice and off-ice training sessions, focusing on technical skills, tactics, and physical conditioning Teach fundamental and advanced techniques of the Learn to Skate program Monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing athlete performance and needs. Providing suitable feedback via positivity, encouragement, example, and motivation Demonstrating an activity clearly by breaking down the task or technique into a sequence Friendly and courteous with athletes, parents, and team members Identifying athlete strengths and areas for development Ensuring a safe environment for all athletes Implementing the curriculum in an accurate, creative, positive, and efficient fashion THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: Coaching licenses (or active pursuit of) preferred Familiarity with ISI and USFSA skating programs Neat in appearance and professional in manner and communication Inspiring confidence and self-belief REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE : At least 5 years of appropriate coaching/teaching sport in youth programs for athletes of various aptitudes Proven experience as a coach or in a related role, with a strong background in figure skating Ability to demonstrate and participate in on-ice activities Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills Must be a team player Must have excellent communication skills Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, predominately after-school and weekends Must possess current CPR/FIRST AID certifications, or willingness to obtain within a specified period WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Must be able to move or lift lightweight equipment Work is performed in an ice arena environment, which includes cold temperatures and varying noise levels Position requires standing and activity for extended periods of time (indoors or outdoors), squatting, stooping, jogging, or bending into awkward positions while performing job functions Job Posted by ApplicantPro
