Since 1977, MCDI has provided technical assistance to over 40 countries and institutions in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, and the Middle East. MCDI implements a variety of health programs in areas that include HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, malaria, water, sanitation and hygiene, performance based financing, TB in Sub-Saharan Africa with funding from USAID, the World Bank, the Global Fund for AIDS, TB and Malaria, the Global Sanitation Fund, UNICEF, non-USG public donors and commercial sector donors.Overview of the PositionMCDI is currently looking for a full-time Associate Business Development Manager to support MCDI's new business development and acquisition efforts. This position plays a key role in all aspects of business development, to include monitoring of donor trends and priorities, identifying new opportunities and devising response strategies, conducting positioning and developing responsive and competitive proposals. The position, under the direction and supervision of the Senior Business Development Manager, will play a key role in all aspects of new business acquisition at MCDI. The position will also support capacity building for MCDI staff on relevant business development topics and will participate in profile raising initiatives communications materials, meetings with potential donors and partners, and external events.--Qualifications, skills and experience:------------------Working with MCDI's technical/program teams at the Home and Field Office levels to strategize and position the organization to win new business. This includes capture for new business generally and for ------specific bids as assigned.a.------------Managing the development of large, complex proposals as assigned in collaboration with ------------MCDI's technical, finance, HR and field staff; contributing to the achievement of MCDI's annual and multi-year new business development strategies, goals and revenue targets.b.----------Cultivating new business relationships and discussions with donors to position MCDI to go after and win new business opportunities.c.------------Supporting capacity building of MCDI Home and Field Office staff on relevant business --------------development topics.d.----------Assisting the SBDM in the management and coordination of the day-to-day operation of the --Business Development Unit.Qualifications, Skills and Experience ----------------------------------------------------Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. international public health, international development, business administration) or equivalent degree with relevant experience. Master's degree would be an advantage.------------------At least 5 years of relevant experience, of which at least 2 years of experience in business development. ------------------Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of new business positioning, development of complex proposals and managing donor and partner relations; and of overall proposal development processes and standards. ------------------Demonstrated leadership and management skills across the business development and proposal development process. Ability to manage proposal teams, initiate tasks, organize work, establish priorities in a time-sensitive environment and meet deadlines.------------------Excellent organization and time management skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy and high regards for quality.------------------Experience in international public health is a plus.------------------Strong writing skills and experience, particularly proposal writing (including technical writing). ------------------Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication skills; demonstrated ability to sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with internal colleagues and external partners and donors alike.------------------Ability to problem-solve difficult issues using strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.------------------Strong computer skills and knowledge of Excel spreadsheets. ------------------Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. ------------------Fluency in English required; working ability in French, Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus.------------------Ability to travel internationally. --Fluency in English required; working ability in French, Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred Position: Mid level Location: Silver Spring, Maryland Projected start date: ImmediatelyTo apply, please submit a cover letter and resume (including salary expectations); applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
