Job Description:
The positionOur Client is looking for an Executive Director,
that will provide the direction, overall management, coordination,
operation control, and fundraising of the organization. The
Executive Director reports directly to the Chairman of the Board of
Trustees and will serve as a leader, facilitator, administrator,
and visionary. The Executive Director will advise and make
recommendations to the Board of Trustees, the company's President,
and other officers on the formulation and execution of the overall
objectives, (i.e., three-year strategic plan) policies, and plans
of the Association as well as perform duties in accordance with our
client's Constitution and By-Laws. Development/FundraisingThe
successful candidate will be a seasoned and experienced healthcare
leader who has a passion for building relationships and support.
Ideally, the Executive Director will bring a strong leadership
background, and have experience with creating and keeping financial
sustainability (through development, grantsmanship, and
sponsorships). The desired candidate will have a history of
effective leadership in healthcare industry.KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic leadership by working with the Board and
management teams to establish long range goals, strategies, plans
and policies
- Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the
Board of Trustees as an effective developer of solutions to
business challenges.
- Keep the Board of Trustees fully informed on the condition of
the organization and other important factors affecting the health
of the organization through regular communication
- Work with the Board Chair to ensure effective and efficient
Board committee structure and operation.
- Provide leadership and management to ensure that the mission
and guiding principles of the organization are put into
practice.
- Serve as the company's spokesperson and representative, in
collaboration with the company's President (who serves as the
primary company's spokesperson)
- Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the
organization delivered in a manner consistent with your guiding
principles.
- Ensure organization policies and procedures are current,
appropriate, and upheld.
- Manage the organization; through staff and in person, direct
activities to bring about the execution of plans for the
fulfillment of vision and mission.
- Motivate and lead a high-performance management team, attract,
recruit, and retain required members of the management team not
currently in place; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the
management career development program
- Develop and implement a comprehensive three-year strategic plan
with leadership and staff to be approved by the Board of Trustees
and implement other Board plans in a timely manner as they relate
to programs fundraising communications.
- Exercise authority and responsibility for all personnel
decisions including benefits and compensation, hiring and
terminations, disciplinary actions, promotions, work assignments,
and employee relations consistent with the approved company's
budget
- Supervise and evaluate direct reports ( company's Staff) by
holding them accountable to their job descriptions and goals.
- Establish organization-wide succession planning to ensure
successful long term mission fulfillment.
- Oversee all functions of the Annual Convention, under the
general supervision of the Board of Trustees, including: the
official program; the local committee on arrangements of the Host
Society; the printing and distribution of the official programs;
and the negotiation of contracts.
- Ensure legal compliance and program and fiscal
accountability.
- Provide an effective personal role in fund raising
- Oversee development department activities
- Provide leadership in developing fundraising plans with the
Board of Trustees in raising funds for the association.
- Identify and develop new partnerships with business and
community leaders PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of 10 years leadership experience in senior health
management or membership-based organization which included
fundraising or development
- Experience with healthcare, understanding the current landscape
of health and wellness
- Experience with health policy and advocacy. Washington DC Hill
experience a plus
- Experience in building external partnerships and working with a
Board of Directors
- Demonstrated administrative, strategic, and leadership skills,
including the ability to implement an action plan
- Proven skill and comfort in managing and prioritizing multiple
projects simultaneously
- Strong public speaking, written, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and constructively with
partners.
- Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring,
training, developing, supervising, and appraising employees
- An ability to work deliver a high-quality data driven programs
and evaluations.
- Committed to working with shared leadership and in
cross-functional teamsEDUCATIONAt least a Bachelor's degree
required, an MBA, JD, MHA etc,or a relevant advanced degree
preferred. Health Sector Experience preferred. COMPENSATIONA
