CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:

Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrant's communities, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.

DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:
CASA seeks a Director of Human Resources (HR) to strengthen and implement administrative and operational processes, procedures, and policies, while directly overseeing the Human Resources department. The HR department is passionate about building amazing experiences for all staff across all of CASA's footprint. The HR department helps to meet the organizations goals, while ensuring staff productivity, engagement, and retention is high, and staff feel welcome at CASA. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director will provide leadership and strategy to the organization ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director of Human Resources is responsible for the central coordination of all administrative functions of the Human Resources department, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission. The Director will be responsible for enhancing the organization's Human Resources department by evaluating, planning, and implementing programs in support of core functional areas, including, compensation and benefits, compliance, HR systems, employee engagement and retention, performance management and development, and organizational strategy. The Director is an active member of the Executive leadership team, reports to the COO, and manages direct reports.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organizational Leadership and Strategy

  • Actively participate as a thought partner with the COO, and other members of the senior leadership team, to co-create organizational decisions and provide peer support
  • Lead efforts to increase operational literacy across the organization to promote effective policy and process management and develop internal
  • Leadership Provides vision, leadership, and strategic guidance for the organization-wide design and implementation of strategies that promotes racial justice, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Leads and develops an internal team to support CASA's goals and priorities, including management of the process and system to track progress on long- and short-term goals
  • Plays a critical role in collaborating with the COO, and key members of the senior leadership team, in strategic decision-making, and operations as CASA continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for advancing CASA's Racial Justice, Equity, and Inclusion (RJEI) mission and goals
  • Collaborate with Director of Leadership, and other implementation managers, to co-lead design and implementation strategies ensuring ongoing success and achievements over the awareness and understanding of RJEI and employee engagement
    Human Resources
    • Evaluate, develop, update, and implement internal employment and HR operational policies, procedures, and systems, including identifying new areas for potential growth, enhancement, or strengthening of infrastructure
    • Evaluate the impact of long-range planning of new programs and organizational strategies as those items affect the attraction, motivation, development, and retention of staff
    • Create employment experiences and spaces that grows staff in their skills and commitment to our members and organizations
    • Develop initiatives to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture, valuing differences and creating a sense of belonging
    • Provides leadership for talent acquisition and retention strategies that result in a diverse workforce and the development of programs and services that support, develop, leverage, and recognize the strengths and contributions of all employees;
    • Develop strategies and programs to identify and develop talent within the organization
    • Develop models to identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps and create specific training programs for staff, interns, and volunteers
    • Evaluate succession needs and develop plans to prepare staff for more significant responsibilities
    • Provide guidance and accountability for compliance with organizational policies and procedures
    • Stay abreast of changes in the field and forecast policy and procedure revisions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
    • Develop and maintain robust system for on-boarding to off-boarding of employees
    • Support staff and supervisors in handling performance issues, grievances, and other HR related concerns and issues
    • Raise and track issues and conflicts, remove barriers, resolve issues of complexity involving stakeholders and escalate to an appropriate level when required
    • Oversee management of the HRIS and LMS systems and develop reporting metrics for critical analyses of human resources of the organization.
    • Evaluate the HR department's structure, provide leadership to improve the team's efficiency and effectiveness, providing the team with professional and personal growth opportunities
    • Track progress and develop reports for Executive Management

      EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
      • A degree or certificate in Business Management, Business Operations, and/or related Business certifications are a plus;
      • Prior experience in operations, administration, and/or human resources management is required, with at least five (5) years of management/director level experience at a nonprofit organization
        KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
        • Strong applied computer skills, with high degree of skills in office technologies
        • Expert knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
        • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and management skills
        • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
        • Efficiency, thoroughness, and attention to detail, along with strong organizational and administrative abilities
        • Function independently, be proactive, and take initiative
        • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
        • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
        • Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality
