Job Description CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:CASA's mission is to create a more just society by building power and improving the quality of life in working class and immigrant communities. CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Virginia, and nationally, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:The Health and Human Services Department responds to the needs of low-income Latinos and other immigrants and their families, utilizing service provision models that promote building the power of the immigrant community. This includes health education and improved access to screening and treatment services. Our model of education utilizes popular education methodology to train community health promoters whom their peers trust. CASA also addresses the need for improved access to preventative and primary health care by providing a multilingual telephone and walk-in health and social service navigation program designed to inform community members of available services, and help them enroll in the public or community benefit programs for which they are eligible. Additionally, CASA provides medical interpreting services for limited English speakers and partners with local health departments to combat the spread of infectious diseases and chronic illnesses disproportionately impacting the Latino and immigrant community. POSITION SUMMARY:The COVID-19 Pandemic Response Health Promoter will be providing a wide variety of outreach and education strategies, in conjuction with COVID-19 Pandemic Response Team and HHS Dept. as a whole, as well as assist community members with assistance in response to needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. The candidate will also work closely with the CASA Communications Dept to implement a culturally proficient vaccine outreach, awareness, and education project around key elements of pandemic response, with emphasis on education around COVID-19 vaccines, their importance, and navigation to vaccine events. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the COVID-19 Pandemic Response team in oversight and coordination of vaccine events, partners to run smooth, organized, and successful vaccine events ensuring no doses are wasted at the end of the clinic.
  • Assist in promotion of vaccine events, including coordinate with HHS team and other CASA departments to support other community member needs identified during COVID-19 vaccine activities
  • Assist in coordination with HHS Director, clinical partners, Vaccine Equity Taskforce, Promotores de Salud, CASA staff, and other partners on logistics and calendar of vaccine events
  • Assist with tracking covid-19 vaccine events and related data management
  • Conduct outreach in target areas to promote vaccine evnets, educate on the importance of getting vaccinated, and help navigate community members to other services as needs are identified.
  • Assists with follows up with vaccine event participants to ensure second doses are administered according to CDC guidelines.
  • Coordinate with COVID-19 Pandemic Response team. CASA Communications Department, and the Health Promotor team to construct culturally proficient COVID-19 related education material, social media posts, and outreach plans
  • Provide quality customer service, interactions and responses to all members, partner organizations, vendors, visitor, callers and any other individual or organization you may encounter in your role with CASA.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
    • Bachelor's Degree, Degrees, or expertise in the area of community health or related fields preferred.
    • Valid US Driver's License and a reliable vehicle KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
      • Bilingual (English/French) required, knowledge of Spanish is an asset
      • Experience working with immigrant and low-income populations
      • Ability to work with individuals from a wide variety of racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
      • Requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
      • Must be a quick learner and possess the ability to prioritize in stressful situations;
      • Enthusiasm and ability to work within a team;
      • Commitment to progressive issues
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and ability to master other software and computer programs.
      • Database experience is also highly desired.
      • Minimum five years of experience in community programs coordination or public health
      • Experience in working with community partners
