Authority (WMATA) is seeking seasoned Payroll Supervisor with a

our dynamic Payroll team. The Payroll Supervisor will oversee the
accurate processing and in-depth analysis of transactions for
multiple payrolls within WMATA, ensuring compliance with policies
and regulations while leading a dedicated team of professionals. A
successful candidate will be instrumental in proactively
identifying business solutions, streamlines processes, and
enhancing customer service opportunities. Serving as the first
level of escalation for compliance and error resolution. The
Payroll Supervisor exercises sound judgment in coordinating,
communicating, and resolving payroll and management issues. If this

QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate'sdegreeinAccounting,Finance, HumanRelations,Business
Administrationora related field.
- In Lieu of Associate's degree, a high school diploma or GED
with two (2) years of
experienceinprocessing,administration,analysisand/orsupervisionofpayrollandthe
maintenance of payroll records using automated financial
systems.

Four(4)yearsofprogressivelyresponsible,directexperienceintheprocessing,administration,
analysis and/or supervision of payroll and the maintenance of
payroll records using automated financial systems.
- N/APreferredQualifications
- Bachelor'sDegreeinAccounting,Finance, HumanRelations,orBusiness
Administration.
- Four(4)yearsinasupervisoryormanagementroleinPayroll.
- Expertiseusinglarge enterpriseresourceplanning
(ERP)systems,suchasPeopleSoft,Oracle,or SAP.

Experiencesupervisingand/orprocessingpayrollinanorganizationofcomparablesizeand
complexity.

Experienceprocessingpayrollinaunionizedenvironmentandintheinterpretationandapplication
of collective bargaining agreements.
- CertifiedPayrollProfessional(CPP)
- FundamentalPayrollCertification(FPC)Medical GroupSatisfactorily
complete the medical examination for this position, if required.

Duties
- Actsasthefirstpoint
ofescalationforpayroll-relatedinquiriesanddiscrepancies,providing
prompt resolution.
- Supervises,reviewswork,trains,andprovidesguidance
tolowerlevelrepresentedand/or non- represented staff to ensure the
accuracy of all pay documents and calculations and ensures
compliance with policies and procedures. Participates in the
selection process and makes recommendations on the hiring of lower-
level payroll staff.
- Processesandanalyzes
transactionsfortheweeklyandbiweeklypayrolls, balancesandcontrols,
earnings and deductions totals; inspects automated system outputs,
such as registers and standard reports; determines and corrects
out-of-balance conditions; and researches and prepares special
reports for management.
- Develops and produces meaningful and automated performance
metrics to assess payroll
processesandreportonsuccessesanddeficiencies,suchasbreaks
incontrolsandinefficient processes, to proactively propose
solutions.
- Processessensitiveandirregularpayments anddevelopsroutine
queriesandotherconfidential ad-hoc reports to support such
payments.
- Coordinates,develops,andmaintainswritten
standardizeddocumentationandformsonpayroll procedures and processes
for reference and training materials.
- Developsand/orprovides
WMATA-wideandcross-departmentaltrainingontheproper accounting for
financial transactions.
- Evaluatesexistingprocesses tostrengtheninternal
controlsandstreamlinepayrollprocesses.
- Leveragestechnologytoeliminatemanual processing,improvecustomer
serviceresponsiveness, and reduce instances of pay shortages,
overpayments, and calculation errors.
- Coordinateswithexternal auditorstoprepare
necessaryworkingpapers, auditsamples,and accounting documentation
for the year-end process.
- Servesasacting
PayrollManager,includingallassociatedresponsibilities,intheabsence
ofthe Payroll Manager.OtherDuties
