Systems Engineer to architect, maintain, and optimize
mission-critical z/OS environments supporting federal agency
enterprise platforms. This senior role oversees mainframe software
installation, SMP/E maintenance, middleware operations, and
cross-platform integration while ensuring high availability,
performance, and system resilience. This position is located in
Baltimore, MD Your future duties and responsibilities: . Lead
installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of z/OS and
related IBM mainframe subsystems. . Architect and maintain
WebSphere for z/OS, mainframe middleware, and associated system
components. . Oversee SMP/E software installation, patching,
product upgrades, and maintenance strategy. . Perform advanced z/OS
performance tuning, capacity planning, and workload management
(WLM). . Manage JES2/JES3 operations, RACF security configurations,
system exits, and automation routines. . Troubleshoot complex
mainframe incidents, diagnose root causes, and implement long-term
corrective actions. . Support integration with distributed
applications, API gateways, and modernization toolchains. . Produce
detailed architectural documentation, system design packages, and
operational standards. . Provide technical leadership to junior
engineers and collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure
teams. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: .
Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance . Bachelor's
degree 14 years of relevant IT experience . Advanced experience
administering IBM z/OS at the system engineering level. . Expertise
with WebSphere on z/OS, including installation, configuration, and
tuning. . Strong SMP/E knowledge and mainframe software lifecycle
management skills. . Deep experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, RACF,
JES2/JES3, and common IBM utilities. . Ability to perform advanced
debugging, dump analysis, and system performance monitoring.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required: . Experience
with mainframe modernization or hybrid integration efforts. .
Familiarity with REXX, CLIST, or automation frameworks for
mainframe operations. . Experience supporting large federal
mainframe environments. . Knowledge of mainframe-to-cloud or
API-driven modernization strategies. CGI is required by law in some

range for this role. The determination of this range includes
various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience,
relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the
ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does
not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their
role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and
circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current
range for this role in the U.S. is $71,700.00 - $176,300.00. CGI
