Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice President for Donor Relations, the ideal candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator. The Grant Writer joins the TS Alliance at a pivotal time in its history, as it undertakes a transformational fundraising initiative in support of TSC research with the goal to raise $40 million by 2025. The Grant Writer will be charged with helping the development team to grow and strengthen its partnerships and increase the organization's overall revenue. The Grant Writer develops strategies, performs research, drafts letters of inquiry/proposals, schedule corporate/foundation visits, and accompanies key staff to meetings for purposes of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.


MAJOR FUNCTIONS

Work in conjunction with the Vice President, Donor Relations, CEO, CSO, Science and Medical team and other members of the Donor Relations staff to identify and evaluate corporate, foundation and government prospects; participate in regular prospect and relationship management meetings; and develop strategies to cultivate and update prospects on key TS Alliance initiatives.

Dramatically increase capital funding to grow the organization's research platform through submission of grants to corporations, foundations, Federal and state organizations to ensure campaign goals are met.

Create written strategies to cultivate relationships that will lead to solicitations and stewardship of grant opportunities.

Meet clearly outlined weekly, monthly and annual performance expectations based upon industry standard best practices.

Attend key TS Alliance events to keep apprised of timely and relevant information to create solicitation proposals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads all preparation and proposal writing for all private and government grants including use of different proposal writing tools: grant portals, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word.

Learns about scientific and clinical needs in order to create competitive and viable grant opportunities.

Research and identify new prospects for support from corporate, foundation and government funding opportunities and identifies those that are potentially a good fit for the TS Alliance.

Analyzes RFPs and prepares analysis and strategy recommendations for organizational leadership.

Partners with TS Alliance President & CEO, Vice President for Donor Relations, Chief Scientific Officer, Science and Medical staff, and other internal constituents including board members to develop concepts and plan execution.

Schedule meetings for key staff with external funding prospects for the purpose of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Prepares narratives, budget, and all necessary grant attachments.

Participates in regular meetings with development staff to discuss grant projects.

Coordinates the submission of grant reports.

Works to ensure Raiser's Edge records are maintained and reports are submitted on time.

Represent the organization at special events and other public functions.

Enhance professional growth and competence through study and participation in conferences, workshops and professional-related organizations.

Act as a team player and communicate Donor Relations information within the organization.

Maintain positive relationships with volunteers, colleagues, board members and other constituents.

Perform other duties as needed.

Successful completion of the projects noted in the success factors above requires cooperation with our staff team, board, volunteers, donors and key corporate and foundation partners. Quickly establish working relationships to complete projects as scheduled above.


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree (preferably in Communication, English, Journalism, Marketing or other related field) or equivalent required

A minimum of two (2) years of grant writing experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks while working under deadlines.

Outstanding prospect research skills

Experience with private institutional funders

Active communication with development team members and other staff to ensure grants are compelling and timely

Comfort working remotely with diverse stakeholders and within a pluralistic environment

Willingness to collaborate and build relationships with internal partners

Previous experience using Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, or comparable database software

Strong Microsoft Office and PC proficiency

Motivated by the mission of The TS Alliance

Willingness to learn about TSC and its impact

Optimistic attitude in representing the TS Alliance to external stakeholders

Driven by clear goals and fundraising targets, as well as ability to meet those goals
