Job DescriptionResearch and Communications Analyst (junior- to mid-level)| Silver Spring, MDDescriptionNexight Group is seeking a research and communications analyst with proven experience quickly becoming conversant in a variety of technical topic areas.This role would predominantly support a federal client where we conduct research and analysis to develop clear and compelling products for subject matter experts, leaders in industry, and senior U.S. government officials who are working together to tackle complex challenges facing our nation"s critical infrastructure.An ideal analyst must apply their expertise to conduct desktop research efficiently, offer critical analysis, synthesize information to draw meaningful conclusions, and write original and engaging content (from in-depth studies to short talking points) that accurately communicates complex information.Nexight Group is a small technical and management consulting firm working for a variety ofclients in many topic areas. Adaptability, critical thinking, and genuine curiosity are all equally important to skills and subject matter expertise.SkillsApplicants should have the necessary skills to perform the following job responsibilities: Rapidly build an understanding of specialized information in new subject areas and translate that understanding into a format that is accessible for both subject matter experts and non-expert audiences. Work individually and with a team to research and analyze quantitative and qualitative data, track and analyze trends, develop insightful and accurate syntheses of key issues, and tackle similar tasks that require strong critical thinking and analysis of complex problems.Produce succinct, accurate, and well-documented analyses that synthesize complex information understanding the difference between summarizing and synthesizing information at a level appropriate to the target audience, from executives to employees, at all levels of an organization.Write concise and engaging content for reports, roadmaps, presentations, policy briefings, fact sheets, operational guides, training material, and other outreach publications. Ensure technical accuracy of materials at all times while improving grammar, punctuation, readability, style, flow, and persuasiveness to achieve objectives.Interview and communicate with subject matter experts to gather informed and original opinions on topics of study or clarify specific trends or meaning of data.Develop multifaceted desktop research plans for effective data collection, management, and analysis.Assist in facilitating and engaging diverse groups of expert stakeholders to build partnerships, reach consensus decisions, and creatively solve complex problems.Build subject matter expertise and use it to effectively synthesize research, data, and expert viewpoints and tailor information to the right audience.Develop both detailed and high-level summaries of interviews, meetings, and workshops. Demonstrate excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, that reflect strong critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis capabilities. Develop and track project schedules to ensure continuous progress needed to meet a known deadline.Summary of QualificationsMinimum1-5 years of professional experience Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree or 4 years professional work experience Experience in analysis and synthesis of quantitative and qualitative dataDemonstrated ability to quickly review, comprehend, analyze, and synthesize large amounts of qualitative or quantitative data and communicate it to various audiencesAbility to comfortably and professionally communicate with colleagues and external partners at all levels of seniorityStrong desire to work with teams, keeping clear lines of communication and meeting shared goalsExcellent communications skills, both verbal and written, that reflect strong critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis capabilitiesAbility to work well independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environmentStrict attention to detail with minimal oversight requiredAn entrepreneurial, "roll up your sleeves" spirit that realizes value in all tasks, large and small, likes to learn by doing, and desires continuous improvement and innovationStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to attain a Public Trust clearance or higher-level clearance.
