Description:Position Summary:Research Associate II - Military
Psychiatry Branch to provide technical and professional services in
support of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR).The
Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) aims to conduct
biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense
(DOD) and US Army requirements and delivers life-saving products
including knowledge, technology and medical material that sustain
the combat effectiveness of the Warfighter. Our team is seeking
technical expertise to provide support to WRAIR s Center for
Military Psychiatry and Neuroscience Research (CMPN) CMPN is a
translational and expeditionary effort to identify and eliminate
brain health threats to Soldiers. CMPN investigates and manipulates
the relationship between sleep and performance, performs behavioral
health assessments to inform unit Commanders on Soldier behavioral
health needs, and develops and implements resilience trainings. On
a parallel track are efforts to identify and treat traumatic brain
injury as well as understand the impact of repeated blast
exposure.Specifically, our team is seeking a Research Associate II
to conduct driven basic and applied research to promote the
psychological resilience, neurological functioning, and operational
readiness of service members in support of the Military Psychiatry
Branch within CMPN.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:---
Develop and evaluate mental health interventions designed to
increase Service Member resiliency and performance (e.g.,
Battlemind).--- Collect data, develop/maintain databases, analyze
and interpret a broad array of mental health indicators to include
survey data, objective performance data, neurophysiologic
performance data, sleep data and injury-related data for the
purpose of developing policies and procedures to enhance and
maintain resilience, performance, and mental health.--- Perform
scientific design and execution of evaluation studies.--- Perform a
variety of training development and program evaluation functions in
support of the MHR program. The training development data and
tools, and program evaluation functions shall be in support of
behavioral health training tools to aid providers, medics, leaders,
and Soldiers.--- Assist in the development of training modules
including conducting literature reviews, acquiring media materials,
preparing PowerPoint modules, and writing lesson plans.--- Develop
evaluation tools as well as on-site evaluation of trainers.---
Write protocols to the final steps of report generation and
manuscript publication.--- Assist with the design of research
studies and provide scientific input into the research process.---
Responsible for the execution of research studies and for all
aspects of data collection, thus providing support in data
management and data analyses.--- Design surveys, coordinate data
collections, collect survey and interview data, process data,
archive data by entering all data into appropriate databases, and
prepare codebooks.--- Assist in preparing command briefings,
technical reports, and manuscripts for publication in professional
journals.--- Perform other duties as assigned.About the Role:This
job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion
of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain
and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk
clearance.Requirements:Qualifications: Requires a Masters degree in
Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Molecular Biology, Psychology or other
related scientific field A minimum of 2 year of experience in
related scientific field Experience in a Military setting is a
plus. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures
within a particular field. Ability to operate research equipment
requiring manual dexterity. Ability to handle research animals,
wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and work in a
Biosafety Level (BSL) 1 laboratory. Ability to utilize office
automation equipment, including computers, photocopiers,
telephones, and telefax machines. Demonstrates ability to
prioritize, organize, problem-solve and coordinate daily activities
to support effective improvement in individual patients.
Demonstrates knowledge, skill and ability to use basic office
automation and information management equipment and programs (i.e.
word processing, database management, email, etc.). Communicate in
a diplomatic and professional manner with research staff and study
participants. Excellent written communication skills to perform
accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all
activity in accordance with requirements. Clearance Requirement:
Public Trust / High RiskAs this position is categorized as Public
Trust / High Risk position, candidates will be subject to
appropriate Background Investigation.Job Location: Silver Spring,
MDAs this position will be located at a federal government site,
candidate must be residing in the greater Silver Spring, MD area.
Remote work for this position is not available.Travel:International
and Domestic travel may be required. travel may be required. (up to
20% travel).Relocation Eligibility:No, this position is not
