The role of Scientist I in the Research group is to support the delivery of pre-clinical programs from target identification through IND filing. This role entails design, planning, execution and interpretation of in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo studies focused on identifying candidate molecules to support IND filing. The candidate must have a strong background in immunology with fibrosis expertise a plus. They will lead or support one or more preclinical projects and participate in the evaluation of new targets. The candidate must have strong written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated, innovative, a team player, have proven leadership skills and must be able to work independently.

Position Requirements

  • Support and/or lead pre-clinical stage drug development projects targeting pathways related to autoimmunity/inflammation/fibrosis
  • Design, develop and execute immunoassays with cell lines and primary immune cells
  • Lead design and execution of pre-clinical in vivo studies to support program development
  • Train other scientists in the lab and clearly communicate scientific concepts
  • Generate and analyze experimental data; troubleshoot efficiently, prepare written reports and impactful presentations
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multifaceted team and collaborate with other functions such as translational science, clinical development and business development
  • Contribute to evaluation of business development opportunities
  • Present scientific data in internal and external meetings

    Qualifications and Skills Required:
    • PhD in immunology or related field with 3+ years of postdoctoral or Bachelors with 5+ years of industry experience
    • Previous biotechnology or industry experience is desirable
    • Expertise in culturing primary fibroblasts is highly desirable
    • Experience in multi-color flow cytometry, tissue culture techniques, molecular techniques, MSD/ELISA, single-cell omics, and immunohistochemistry is desirable
    • Perform lab work independently
    • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
    • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
    • Strong publication record
