Are you ready to launch your career?Responsibilities SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe successful candidate will serve as Senior Program Advisor embedded within Aerospace s team supporting the Office of Projects, Planning and Analysis (OPPA) at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration s (NOAA s) National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (NESDIS). In this role, the successful candidate will provide systems engineering and program management advice and assistance is support of a portfolio of environmental satellite projects. The position will be based in Silver Spring, MD. Occasional travel is required.KEY FUNCTIONSProvide expert advice and assistance to support the design, development, and acquisition of NOAA NESDIS space-based capabilitiesIdentify issues, prioritize tasks, facilitate communications, and act as spokesperson for the working group to management and clients.Scope requirements for and initiates acquisition of technical support from appropriate corporate resources including cost and economic or market analysis specialists, as appropriate.Monitor and assist in development of budgets and other resource allocations to accomplish tasksProvide subject matter expertise to internally funded Aerospace projects ranging from cutting-edge research to program developmentProvide just-in-time training to Aerospace staff in project planning and managementMay participate in new business and/or technical planning efforts.This position can be filled as a L2 or L3.Qualifications REQUIRED

  • At least 8 years for the L2 and 12 years for the L3 role of program/portfolio and project management experience in major space systems engineering and program management activities in private industry and/or government acquisition programs
  • Demonstrated strong general systems engineering knowledge
  • As a principal Aerospace representative to NESDIS, possess a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience and successful track record of providing direct support to senior executives at the SES, SIS and/or flag officer level or industry equivalent
  • Extraordinary poise
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated, exceptional initiative and problem-solving prowess
  • Demonstrated expertise in small team project management
  • Knowledge of core space technologies, including constellation design, satellite buses, remote sensing instruments, communication payloads, and launch vehicles
  • General familiarity with approaches to and experience with satellite ground processing and exploitation of environmental remote sensing data
  • Keen interest in the NOAA missionPREFERRED
    • 15-20 years of progressively responsible professional engineering and program management expeirnce with at least 7 years in the space industry
    • Advanced degree in engineering or related field
    • Familiarity with cost models for space flight and associated ground systems
    • PMP certification
