Job Description:

The Health Care Market Analyst provides data and analyses upon which strategic and programmatic decisions are made for Holy Cross Health and its operating divisions: Holy Cross Hospital, Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, and Holy Cross Health Network. Accountable for developing and maintaining comprehensive market analyses; gathers, organizes, and maintains data from internal sources, industry groups, and state and local health planning agencies; works collaboratively with the Director of Strategy and Analytics, the Chief Strategy Officer, senior leaders, and other executive clients to analyze clinical and financial data that support strategic business initiatives. Serves as an internal consultant/subject matter expert on decision support systems, databases and tools such as Business Objects, Patient Care Analyst (PCA), Truven, MapPoint or equivalent systems. Supports the mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health. Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable): None. --Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in business administration, health systems administration, finance, economics, information systems or statistics from an accredited university; Master's degree is strongly preferred. Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a healthcare organization, performing complex data analysis of clinical and/or financial information, to include: Using appropriate software (e.g., Excel, Access), decision support software systems, and relational databases to synthesize and analyze complex information. Advanced working knowledge of Excel required. Working knowledge of Tableau and Structured Query Language (SQL) preferred. Experience using Word and PowerPoint. Building spreadsheets, reports and dashboards. Preparing written reports and summaries in a concise, comprehensive and organized manner that contain accurate information and are responsive to assignments. Developing and delivering presentations. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to deal with information of a highly confidential nature. Detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills. Strong customer service and sophisticated communication skills for responding to requests; helping clients at all levels of the organization define their needs for data; and explaining analyses. Independent judgment and insight to evaluate situations correctly as well as foresight to avoid issues. High degree of motivation and professionalism with the ability to work independently in the management of projects; must also work well in a team setting. Ability to think critically and ask appropriate questions in order to effectively analyze problems and recommend solutions.-- Ability to effectively utilize strong analytical skills to review healthcare data, utilize databases and query tools, develop and evaluate alternative analytical approaches, draw conclusions, and give guidance to decision-makers based on findings. Ability to work under pressure to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment Knowledge and understanding of the following is preferred: Healthcare forecasting methodologies and techniques Finance and accounting concepts/principles Business concepts and requirements as applicable to a large health care organization Principles of strategic business decision-making Work hours and intensity will vary, and flexibility is expected to accomplish tasks outside normal work hours. Working Conditions: Physical Requirements: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Environmental Conditions: None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
