Forensic Data AnalystSpringfield, VAGrade: B4Open: 2021-03-08, Close: 2021-03-20Job Posting: 20210163Job SummaryASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Forensic Data Analysts conduct and manage the Agency-wide Fraud Detection and Prevention Program. They apply tools and algorithms to identify unusual patterns and other indications of fraudulent activity. They access, manipulate, and/or combine data to decipher underlying trends or uncover anomalies, and discern obscure patterns and attributes associated with anomalies. These analysts perform proactive inquiries and collaborate with other NGA OIG divisions and IC organizations to improve data collection, loading, validation and reconciliation, analysis, and reporting. They prepare reports and briefings that provide a sound basis for the restitution and recovery of NGA funds.Additional Job InformationADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Forensic Data Analyst, The position will be part of the OIG Investigations Division in a non-supervisory capacity and reports directly to the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Fraud Analytics. Band 4 employees have duties that may involve nonstandard or inter-related assignments requiring analytical, research, or negotiating skills. Band 4 employees may direct the work of similar or lower level personnel or serve as project leader on large complex tasks. Employees work with others to exchange information, identify problems, propose solutions, and defend recommendations on issues to all levels within NGA and, at times, to other organizations and agencies. Typical functions may include representing NGA to external organizations, policy interpretation, providing briefings and presentations to large audiences, negotiation, mentoring junior staff, personnel assessment, budget management, project management, and contract management. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals to 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.Highly Desired QualificationsQUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Demonstrated data visualization experience for exploratory data analysis and dashboard reporting (i.e. Tableau, Power BI or SPSS). 2. Demonstrates Project Manager experience or certification (Project Management Professional or equivalent). 3. Demonstrated experience in Data Science specialization training (data visualization, data modeling, statistical modeling). 4. Demonstrated Fraud analytics experience or certification (Certified Fraud Examiner or equivalent)Additional Job RequirementsYou must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. In addition, you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination in order to maintain access to Top Secret information. All employees are subject to a periodic examination on a random basis in order to determine continued eligibility. Refusal to take the examination may result in denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.
