Job Title: Data Technician III - Enhanced Data Access
Development and Sustainment
Location: Silver Spring, MD or Boulder, CO or Asheville, NC or
Kiln, Mississippi (potential for remote)

Description
The Data Technician III will support the Enhanced Data Access
Development and Sustainment area by
managing, organizing, and processing large and complex datasets.
They will be responsible for
conducting quality checks, troubleshooting data issues, and
providing technical support to users
accessing data products. The candidate will work in a fast-paced
environment and must be able to work
independently and collaboratively with a diverse team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and organize large and complex datasets, including data
ingestion, formatting, and
quality control.
Conduct quality checks and troubleshoot data issues.
Provide technical support to users accessing data products.
Work with a diverse team of data managers and developers to ensure
data integrity and
accuracy.
Document and maintain standard operating procedures for data
management processes.
Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or
related field, or equivalent
experience.
At least 3 years of experience in data management and
processing.
Knowledge of data management best practices, including data
formatting, quality control, and
documentation.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
Familiarity with Linux operating system and command line
interface.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team
environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work with large and complex
datasets.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the
ability to communicate technical
information to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with large scale data processing and storage systems,
such as Hadoop, Spark, or
NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with cloud-based data storage and processing, such as
Amazon Web Services or
Microsoft Azure.
Knowledge of metadata standards and data documentation best
practices.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or
D3.js.
Knowledge of scientific data formats and standards, such as NetCDF
or HDF5.
